A man builds a fine house; and now he has a master, and a task for life: he is to furnish, watch, show it, and keep it in repair, the rest of his days.

Hi.

I’m Chris and this is my blog, Craft.

Craft Vintage and Modern will eventually be a small, nicely curated, home interiors shop.  A little vintage. A little modern. Useful, intersting things for the home.  Craftsmanship will be a reoccuring theme.

We’ll be opening in the storefront of our old house in late 2012/early 2013. That’s our place below…the third in from the right with the side window.

This photo was taken in 1906 so things have changed a bit since then. Are those dirt roads?

Craft will be a weekend gig for us for now because, well, we have full time careers doing other things. But the plan is to have a great site in addition to our storefront. And because let’s face it, our very cute small town Mattapoisett is not the most well travelled of destinations. But we do have one of the busiest spots in town so that’s good.

Our house, which has been one non-stop renovation for the past 13 years, was built in 1798 and has been many things over time from a block and carpenter shop servicing the local whaling shipyards, to the town post office, a general store, something called the Machacham Club (?) and now our home.

This blog is a place to share some of the things that inspire me…and which will undoubtedly influence the direction of Craft.

We are in the midst of full-on renovations to our storefront and I’ll be posting photos of our progress.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you at Craft sometime soon.

Chris
